**First Grade homework begins the first week of October!**
In first grade, homework is meant to reinforce what is being learned in school. Ideally, my students shouldn't be spending any more than 20 minutes each night on their homework. Students will have a monthly homework calendar that will be given out at the start of each month. On occasion, supplementary materials may be sent home as I feel necessary.
The homework will be the same every night:
Parents, please use your discretion. There should never be tears over homework in first grade. If the math homework took more than 20 minutes, please, skip the reading. If your child struggles with reading, make that a priority over math homework.
Plus, totally optional weekend homework :)

- 5 minutes of sight word practice
- 10 minutes of reading
- a book
- RAZ kids
- 10 minutes of math practice
- math worksheet *if* one was sent home
- practice games on a math app or a math website
