I graduated from Kutztown University in May of 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. Right after college, I became a teacher's assistant at GWCS. The following summer, I got hired full-time as a first grade teacher! This will be my 5th year at Green Woods and I am so excited to kick off another wonderful year.
When I am not at school, you can find me at the beach, snowboarding, grabbing a cup of coffee, hiking, doing yoga, kayaking, reading, looking up facts about a new city to visit or researching new teaching approaches! I also enjoy trying out new recipes and spending time with my friends and family :)
I believe in treating each child as an individual person; I never assume that all of my students are the same. I will spend careful time getting to know each of my students as I hope they will do with their peers. Things that I teach in my classroom, aside from academics, are: respect, accountability, and independence. In my opinion, these are three of the most important life skills. Your child will learn respect by being treated with respect. Your child will learn accountability by observing consistent classroom management and participating in our classroom economy. Your child will learn independence by being encouraged and cheered on. First grade is such an important year. We will have so much fun learning and growing together. I am so excited to meet your child and to begin to create lasting memories!
